Yolanda Kondonassis speaks with John Clare about her latest project: the American harp! She interprets solo harp repertoire by American composers John Cage, Elliott Carter, Lowell Liebermann, John Williams, Norman Dello Joio, Stephen Paulus, and Hannah Lash.

"American Harp" features three world premiere recordings and a wide range of musical atmospheres while highlighting the work of these well-known American composers to reveal the unique voice of the harp in contemporary composition.

"I've wanted to make this album for years," said Kondonassis. "I am puzzled when people say the harp has so little repertoire. In fact, there are stacks of original repertoire for the harp. The problem is that it rarely sees the light of day. With this album, I'd like to offer a peek into some of the wonderful harp music that exists - and hopefully, whet audiences' appetites for more."
