In his six decade career, music and acting icon Frank Sinatra won the 11 Grammy Awards, an Oscar for “From Here To Eternity”, and an Emmy Award for “Frank Sinatra: A Man and His Music”. He was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors in 1983, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Ronald Reagan in 1985, and the Congressional Gold Medal in 1997. Sinatra possessed one of the best voices of the 20th century. His voice had a broad range and he knew how to exploit it’s sexuality. He has sold over 150 million records making him one of the best selling recording artists of all time. Ironically, he never learned how to read music but had a great ear and an innate feeling for music. He was married to Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow and was also engaged to Lauren Bacall. He has left behind a huge catalogue and legacy of music and film.
"It Was a Very Good Year" was written by Ervin Drake in 1961 and originally recorded by Bob Shane with the Kingston Trio. Frank Sinatra made the song famous with his version featured on the 1965 studio album “September Of My Years”. Sinatra won a Grammy for best Vocal Performance, Male for this brilliant version. Gordon Jenkins was also awarded with a Grammy was the wonderful orchestration of this song. Enjoy! Thanks For Your Comments.
